Personal Beliefs of Grading
I will...
- Give a letter grade for academic achievement. This relates back to my purpose of grading. Comments will be given on bell work and other non-graded work.
- Report non-academic conditions in the comment section of progress reports and report cards. This also relates to my purpose of grading.
- Grade on an equal interval 9-point scale. This will be done to remedy the issue Douglas Reeves pointed out regarding the unequal approach of the A through E, 100-0% grading scale (Reeves, 2004, p. 325).
- Give multiple assessments and use the most current and best score. This will most accurately report academic achievement.
I will not...
- Give zeros for missing assignments. Instead, I will follow the method suggested by Reeves (Reeves, 2004, p. 325).
