Assessment Rubric & Plan for Grading
The points on the rubric may seem confusing, however it mirrors the MSVMA (Michigan School Vocal Music Association) rubric with which students need to be familiar for major events like Choral Festival and Solo & Ensemble at the district and state level. I will use their point values with my own distribution to create a students grade.
I will score this assessment while watching the recordings of the small ensembles. By assessing the recordings and not the live performances, I am able to grade each student individually instead of the ensemble as a whole. This will be done after school on the day of the assessment so the rubrics may be returned to the students the next day. I will keep a copy of the scored rubric for my records along with the file of the video recordings. The students will receive the original scored rubric. Based on the data collected from the assessment, I will be able to assess the class’s proficiency. I will share my data findings with stakeholders, but only share an individual’s scored rubric with the student and their parents.
